356 "horror" covers to go! (717 total)
This Cover Gallery is an ambitious one, and it is one that will ONLY succeed with YOUR HELP. I don't own every single '50s Atlas cover and wouldn't even have the time to scan them all in, much less make them all as presentable as possible. This is where you come in. PLEASE send me all your scans, and I will put them up here as quickly as possible. For the purposes of this gallery, the "Horror" era will also include anything definable as "Mystery/Fantasy", as well as "Sci-Fi".
Below is a list of the books from the "HORROR" genre. Below THAT is a list of what we need for this site, and below THAT is a list of scans I'd like to see replaced (for purely aethestic reasons). So, please do contact me at ditko37@sympatico.ca with any questions. For now, check out
our always-updated list of scans needed.

SUGGESTIONS/NOTES ABOUT SCANS:
Please e-mail me at ditko37@sympatico.ca about sending scans before you think of sending anything. I may have the ones you would send, but just haven't had time to put them up, plus I'd like to make sure I know when they are coming, so that my mailbox doesn't blow up.
With regards to the sizing : I will NOT put up a scan unless it is MINIMUM 350 pixels wide, and even THAT is way too small. I will NOT put up a scan that is MORE than 750 pixels wide. I am aiming for covers around 600 pixels wide, cause the bigger the better! Just e-mail me with any questions. We'll live with a scan in the range of 400+ pixels if it is a nice and clear one, and is of a very rare cover.
You don't HAVE to go nuts scanning your own books, and prettying them up in PHOTOSHOP, but I won't stop you if you want to go that far. You can just send me covers that I need from E-Bay, if you've saved any. Course, those who know how to go into PhotoDeluxe or Photoshop and sharpen, adjust contrast and brightness, increase saturation, rotate, crop, etc., and want to spend the time to do it, god bless you. Here's an ideal scan, although a tad on the large size. Still, it is nice and sharp, well-centered, nice contrasts, decent colour. Here's a scan we don't want.
We would prefer no C.G.C. scans UNLESS they show the entire comic. Most don't, cause most scanners won't fit that top piece, so most E-Bayers don't scan the bottom inch or so of the comic.
When you do send in scans, please PLEASE include the cover month and year of publication,
along with whether or not the cover artist has signed the piece. I can't put up the scans in the current set-up without this information.
This site, and the trillions of images stored (and to be) would not be
possible without the generousity of Jon Arvid Lovstad. Jon has supplied
the domain name and server space for free and all I have to do is
put up a line to Jon's major passion (and one of mine), the Grand Comic Book Database, a resource that has
indexed the contents of over 66,000 comic books. They always need help, so
please check them out and do what you can! Also, check out another site Jon has been gracious enough to host, and that is Nick Simon's incredible Silver Age Marvel Comics Index. One look though it and you'll know quality! Also, Mike Costa supplied SO many of the images, it would be impossible to list them all, so we'll just list his E.C. Science Fiction Comic-Book Cover Gallery!
